The Minus One Formula

With several deadlines passed, the issue of restoration of the judges still remains unsolved. Whereas the lawyers are bent upon getting restored Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary, the government has come forward with the idea of Minus One Formula.
The judiciary crisis began, in the first place, by Musharraf’s pressure for CJP to resign from his office and which he refused to do, and later his deposition followed by resignation of several other judges of the Supreme Court and the High Courts. If it was supposed to possibly end like this, which idea of course wouldn’t impress a prudent mind, then what good was the lingering on that this issue has been through. And even if we may imagine an implication of the formula, then what justifies the resignation of the other judges and their reinstatement? The Minus One Formula only brings to my mind the idea of a team playing without the captain. Don’t we already know the match result?
